Literacy Programme
Wednesdays, 13:45 - 14:45. Meet at Front Arch at 13:20.
This is a new activity that will be running this year in Enda’s primary school. Over the years our volunteers have drawn attention to the fact that some of the children we work with often have very poor reading skills. This is often (although by no means always) due to the lack of support they have with their reading and schoolwork at home. In an effort to combat the problem, we have begun working with senior infants on a weekly basis. The activity involves shared reading with the kids and also making reading and writing that bit more fun through such things as creative writing, art and drama... We’re talking those BIG books you loved your teacher producing when you were in primary school here!
This activity may be of particular interest to students studying speech therapy or primary teaching, although anyone enthusiastic is welcome!
