Refugee Homework Club
Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 14:30 - 16:30. Meet at Front Arch at 13:45.
Welcome to the Refugee Centre Homework Club!!!
We're based in the Vincentian Refugee Centre in St. Peter's Church in Phibsoro, Dublin 9. The club is run for refugees and asylum seekers, and we help them with their Junior and Leaving Cert homework. These students are unaccompanied minors and come from countries like Somalia and Zimbabwe. They would have no support at home like we would have, and no one to ask for help or advice, so that's where we come in! We help with various subjects like Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Business, but sometimes we also just help with their English. Don't worry if you can't remember the difference between integration and differention, you can help with whatever you think can! Sometimes we just a have a great chat!!
This club is a great way to meet new people, and to chat with the students and learn about new cultures. They are so appreciative of the help, so you always feel what you're doing is very worthwhile!
We always have tea or coffee, and some biscuits, of course (like chocolate hob nobs....!.)
So sign up with Anna and Muireann, the activity leaders, if you think you'd like to help out!
